As I stand here prepared to read, I refrain myself from crying
But as I take this next breath, I know you’re already smiling
I need that ounce of courage you used to give me on a daily
Your devotion and thoughtfulness is what I will miss mainly
A grandmother known to hold much jazz and magic in your hands
As much as I want that back, God already made his plans.
You’re resting in heaven now, like you slipped away into a different room
Hold a spot for me next to you, as this journey we all face, sometimes too soon.
I don’t promise to miss you a little, and no I don’t promise to let go
But I do promise to hold your memories long and put your pictures up for show
I know you want me to be happy and not hold on too long
But I’m barely making it without you, chin up trying to be strong.
My final loving wishes is for you to be in peace, comfort, and care
As I know our God is keeping you, as you look down and shed a tear.
No more pain, no more sickness, your ship has picked its time to sail
I’ll continue to talk to you everyday, while I watch tv, comb my hair, paint my nails.
Love this girl. Speaks to me now more than ever.
