7 Deadly Sins

We all have heard of the 7 deadly sins, but have you ever done the research to find the virtuous side of those sins? The bible explains it all!

 7 Deadly Sins:

Pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity. (Job 35:12 And when they cry out, God does not answer because of their pride.)

Envy is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation. (Job 5:2 For wrath kills a foolish man, and envy slays a simple one.) (Exodus 20:17 You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey nor anything that is your neighbor’s.)

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires. (Luke 12:48 For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.)

Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body. (Proverbs 6:25 Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, Nor let her allure you with her eyelids.)

Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury it is also known as wrath. (Psalm 145:8 The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy.)

Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of thespiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness. (Matthew 19:24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go though the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.)

Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work. (Proverbs 18:9 He who is slothful in his work Is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.)

As we examine these, I equate them all to God telling us to be content. Now being content does not mean you don't want for anything else ever in life. He says that he comes that we may have life more abundantly. Our natural beings tell us that we should want more and more but once we get that more, then it turns into wanting even more. Whether it be wanting what someone else has or not, we tend to not be satisfied within ourselves.

By avoiding these sins, we can get the more that God has for us. What we want for ourselves is not necessarily what God wants for us. Sometimes you have to do things that you never did to get things that you never had. IF you never had faith, try it, if you never had patience try it, God is not in our lives to give us everything we want. He puts tests in front of us sometimes to see if we can be happy with the small things, to make room for the big things.

Contentment doesn't come from what you own, but where you stand with God. Once you learn to not be jealous of something that someone else has or mad at what you don't have, you will be better off. Take a look at what you have and be thankful for what you don't have because you never know what comes attached to that! Seek God not what he can do for you!
